Erasmus Mundus Masters Program in Public Policy

Overview
The Erasmus Mundus Masters Program in Public Policy (Mundus MAPP) is a 2-year-long international Masters course funded by the European Commission. The European Commission`s Erasmus Mundus program provides scholarships to outstanding students from within and outside the European Uni0n to attend Mundus MAPP and to visiting scholars to participate in teaching and research. The Consortium universities also support these students by offering partial tuition fee waivers to Erasmus Mundus scholarship recipients. Mundus MAPP equips graduates with the conceptual knowledge and hard skills that are necessary for understanding and decisively intervening in contemporary transnational policy problems, from climate change to international terrorism or financial regulatory failure. It provides a detailed and systematic understanding of how political institutions, processes and public policies operate and interact from the global political economy through to national and local levels with a direct focus on European engagements at these levels of governance. Inter-disciplinarity and practical application of conceptual knowledge are hallmarks of Mundus MAPP.

The Food Security Center (FSC) is a university center of excellence in development collaboration at the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany. FSC is one of five excellence centers of the pro-gram “exceed – Higher Education Excellence in Development Cooperation”, which is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of Germany. Shorenstein Fellowships in Contemporary Asia at Stanford University

Overview
The Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center in the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies is pleased to announce its 2012–2013 Walter H. Shorenstein Fellowships. Made possible through the generosity of Walter H. Shorenstein, awards will be made to two junior scholars (recent PhDs must have degree conferral by August 31, 2012) for research and writing on Asia.

The primary focus of the program is contemporary political, economic, or social change in the Asia-Pacific region (including Northeast, Southeast, and South Asia), or topics in international relations and international political economy. Fellows must be in residence for the duration of the appointment, which begins the fall quarter of the 2012–2013 academic year. They must take part in center activities throughout the academic year, and are required to present their research findings in center seminars. Fellows also participate in the center`s publication program. The fellowship includes a stipend of $50,000 for 10 months, plus $3,000 for research materials.

Columbia`s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory invites applications for postdoctoral fellowships in the earth, environmental and ocean sciences. Candidates should have recently completed their Ph.D., or expect to finish by September 2012.

Lamont-Doherty researchers work to understand the dynamics of earth`s chemical, physical and biological systems, from its inner core to upper atmosphere, as well as its interactions with humans.
