Overview
We are seeking five PhD students across a range of system topics. We are seeking two PhD students to investigate the implications of photonic networks on future large-scale computer systems (such as data centres or scientific computers) with a focus on power consumption reduction. The work will involve modelling large systems of chip multiprocessors with photonic interconnect using FPGA-based emulation. These two positions are funded by the EPRSC grant EP/I004157/1, (http://gow.epsrc.ac.uk/ViewGrant.aspx?GrantRef=EP/I004157/1)

We are seeking a further three PhD students for the `INTelligent Energy awaRE NETworks` (INTERNET) project whose vision is to reduce the carbon footprint of ICT networks by at least an order of magnitude - along with a corresponding reduction in non-renewable energy consumption.

Job description:
In 2011, the Faculty of Law will be offering five scholarships for commencing Doctor of Philosophy students. The Quentin Bryce Law Doctoral Scholarships will also be offered in 2012 (five scholarships) and in 2013 (five scholarships).

The scholarships are open to domestic and international students. It is expected that scholarship holders will be full-time students, but the scholarship may be awarded to part-time students in the circumstances specified in the Conditions of Award.

The Fourth World Biennial of Student Poster, organized by the University of Novi Sad and the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, is open to all undergraduate and graduate students of art colleges where the discipline of poster art is a part of the curriculum. According to the statute of the Fourth World Biennial of Student Poster a thematic competition is proposed as a contest segment of the Biennial. Only students at academies and colleges of arts where the discipline of poster art is part of the curriculum have the right to participate at the competition. One can take part with three works at most. All posters must represent the student`s work performed within the last two school years and verified by the professors` signature.

The programme combines the European JMMIR network and the Euro-African IMMIS network. Consortium members are: University of Oldenburg (UOL), Germany, University of Stavanger (UiS), Norway, University of Nova Gorica, Slovenia, University of South Bohemia, Czech Republic, Ahfad University for Women, Sudan plus Makerere University and Mbarara University of Science & Technology in Uganda.

The programme combines expertise in migration studies with intersecting fields, such as gender studies, cultural studies, and education and development studies.
