Knight Fellowships for International Professional Journalists at Stanford Universit

2011-12 Knight Fellowships for International Professional Journalists from outside the United States at Stanford University.

Overview

The Knight Fellowships awards up to nine fellowships each year to journalists from outside the United States who have already done first-rate work and who have the potential of great impact in journalism in their home countries. The program has revised its selection process to reflect a new emphasis on journalistic innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership, including an emphasis on developing and strengthening press freedoms around the world.

The overall goal for international fellows is the same as those from the U.S. – an engaged, informed public. We are paying special attention to countries where the obstacles to this goal may be more acute than in the U.S. because of government or other powerful forces opposed to free expression.

Dean`s Postdoctoral Fellowships

Overview
Postdoctoral Fellowship for Stanford University Candidates Job Description
The Dean`s Postdoctoral Fellowships encourage and support young investigators in the first one or two years of their postdoctoral (Ph.D. or M.D.) research training. These fellowships are awarded to postdoctoral scholars in order to carry on postdoctoral research training in the Stanford University School of Medicine and who are under the mentorship of faculty in the School of Medicine. With the goal to support current postdocs at Stanford and to facilitate the recruitment of new postdoctoral scholars, the partial support of a Dean`s fellowship is often used as “seed” money while outside funds are sought, providing up to $21,500 in stipend for one year.

The Dean`s Postdoctoral Fellowship Committee holds two meetings per year: one in November for awards to start in the following January through December, and in May for awards to cover the following July through June.
