Overview
The Institute of Sacred Music at Yale University is currently accepting applications for the ISM Fellows in Sacred Music, Worship, and the Arts for the 2011-2012 academic year. This unique residential fellowship will allow scholars and practitioners in sacred music, liturgical and ritual studies, or religion and the arts to join a vibrant interdisciplinary community at Yale University for one year to further and share their work. The fellowship provides a stipend of up to $60,000, and offers the opportunity to teach.

Eligibility
The quality, significance, and focus of the work fellows propose to do during the residency are of paramount importance in the selection process. Each fellow will undertake a substantive and original project that relates to the mission of the Institute. This could be original scholarship, an art exhibition, a musical composition, or work of creative writing, etc.

Heriot-Watt University - Computer Sciences Department Applicants are invited for a fully funded PhD studentship on "Computational approaches to Uncertainty in Scenario-based models of Climate Change Impacts" at the Computer Sciences Department at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh (joint supervision with Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability at Edinburgh University). The aim of this studentship is to develop new computational models to assess uncertainties in the prediction of climate change impacts and explore alternative policy response strategies to better mitigate climate vulnerability. It will formally identify and quantify sources of uncertainty and explore probabilistic methods (e.g. Probabilistic Graphical Models) which capture distributions over possible futures and allow efficient inference over hidden (unobservable) variables.

Overview

The Institute of European History (IEG) awards
10 research fellowships for international PhD-students
for a research stay in Mainz from January 2011 or later.

The proposed projects should require a research stay in Mainz for at least 6 months. Funding is € 1.000/month. A health insurance subsidy is granted as well. At the IEG fellows can pursue their individual research projects in a tranquil yet inspiring at-mosphere. According to their special fields and interests, they are invited to colloborate with the Institute’s research units (see http://www.ieg-mainz.de/forschungsbereiche ).

Applications are invited from doctoral candidates of any national background. Applicants must have a first degree in history or theology. They should not be older than 32 years and should not have pursued their PhD-work for more than three years when taking up the fel-lowship, but well-founded exceptions are possible. PhDs-theses are being supervised and completed at the fellows` home universities.
