PhD Research Fellow in Computational Physics at University of Olso
1 vacant PhD Position in Computational Physics: Modeling mechano-chemical processes of relevance to mineralogical CO2 storage in ultramafic rocks at the Center of Excellence for the Physics of Geological Processes (PGP) at the University of Oslo.
The fellowship is for a period of 3 years.
Job description and requirements
The permanent storage of CO2 in the form of carbonate minerals may provide the ultimate solution for large scale, permanent, safe storage of CO2. The Center of Excellence for the Physics of Geological Processes (PGP) at the University of Oslo is seeking a Ph.D. candidate to work in an interdisciplinary team addressing the basic physical processes relevant for permanent CO2 storage solutions.
Position as a researcher (SKO 1109) available at the Department of Chemistry/CTCC - www.ctcc.uio.no (http://www.kjemi.uio.no/)
The present call is for a 4-year research position in the framework of the Atmospheric Research and Monitoring (ARM) project.
The candidate should document experience in analytical mass spectrometry and real-time monitoring of trace gases from field campaigns and chamber studies. The researcher position will have 50% of the work time allocated to the ARM project and 50% to personal research development and qualification for a faculty position. The ARM project includes a postdoctoral position to be announced separately. There are excellent possibilities for collaboration with top scientists within the chemistry department, and the successful candidate should have broad interests and be flexible to work on different topics.
PhD Scholarships in Management, Economics and Social Sciences at Cologne Graduate School
Each year CGS awards 10 to 12 scholarships to excellent students (among the top 10% of their year) with a Master/Dipl. degree or close to finishing their degree. These students will enter a focused, intensive three-year program leading to a PhD (Dr. rer. pol). It is the expressed purpose of this intensive program to educate excellent researchers and teachers who, after obtaining their degree, will mainly stay in academia.
CGS admits up to 12 fellows a year. Students are admitted by the Board of CGS based on their grades, expertise and availability of a potential supervisor.
