Overview
Experimental investigation of the wake instability behind a bluff body
KTH is the largest technical university in Sweden. Education and research cover a broad spectrum within natural sciences and engineering, as well as architecture, industrial engineering and management, urban planning, work science and environmental engineering. KTH has 13 344 full-time equivalent students, of whom 6 955 are at Bachelor (first) level, while 5 545 are at Master (second) level. In addition, 1 314 are full-time equivalent students at doctoral studies (third) level and 3 900 employees.

The School of Engineering Sciences carries out a wide range of research at the international front line, from fundamental disciplines such as physics and mathematics, to engineering mechanics with applications such as aeronautics and vehicle engineering. We also offer University degree programs in engineering Physics, Vehicle engineering, Engineering and Education, and “Open Entrance”, as well as a number of International Masters Programmes.

Job assignments
Phd scholarship in GeoBiosphere Sciences, Geology at Lund University, Sweden We have an opening for a Phd scholarship for a highly motivated person to join our research on a high-grade metamorphic section of the Sveconorwegian orogen. It is the Scandinavian equivalent to the Grenville orogen, and the result of collision tectonics at around 1 Ga ago during the assembly of supercontinent Rodinia. The project area in SW Sweden exposes a window into one of the deepest buried and most ductile parts of this mountain chain. The high-grade deformational and metamorphic processes are considered to be of major importance in the evolution and structural build-up of the orogen.

1 PhD student in the research education subject: Ethology Automation of welfare assessment in broilers at Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences

Overview
Automation of welfare assessment in broilers
PhD position at the Centre of Excellence for Farm Animal Welfare Science The assessment of farm animal welfare is an essential component of welfare quality assurance in animal production. Standardised protocols have been developed (see for instance www.welfarequality.net) by which trained assessors carry out on-farm welfare assessments. One specific difficulty in the application of such protocols is the time and effort needed for a complete assessment. This project will focus on broilers and explore the possible automatisation of some measures using modern technology in sensors, sensing systems and real time modeling.
