| Posted: PhD student in "wastewater treatment by aerobic granular sludge" at Chalmers University of Technology Overview We are looking for a PhD student to be integrated in the wastewater treatment research group at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, division of Water Environment Technology (WET). WET focuses on research and education in the water and wastewater sector. WET has scientists and expertise in waves and hydraulics, process engineering, environment and sustainability. WET has a total staff of around 20 persons. Collaboration across disciplines such as environmental engineering, hydraulic engineering, process technology and microbiology is the basis for research and educational activities. The main research areas are microbiological process in wastewater treatment; risk evaluation and treatment of contaminated areas (competence centre in risk evaluation, FRIST); drinking water systems (framework program for drinking water research at Chalmers, DRICKS); and global pathways for environmental contaminants.

Starting date: Spring term 2011. The Uppsala ATLAS group is part of the High Energy Physics group at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, and currently consists of three faculty members, one post-doctor and three graduate students.http://www4.tsl.uu.se/~Atlas/index.html. We are looking for an excellent and highly motivated PhD student with keen interest in experimental physics and competence within data analysis programs (e.g. C++ and ROOT). The PhD student will work on physics analysis of data from ATLAS and take part in the development of tools for distributed analysis on the grid needed for this purpose.

Phd scholarship in GeoBiosphere Sciences, Geology at Lund University, Sweden We have an opening for a Phd scholarship for a highly motivated person to join our research on a high-grade metamorphic section of the Sveconorwegian orogen. It is the Scandinavian equivalent to the Grenville orogen, and the result of collision tectonics at around 1 Ga ago during the assembly of supercontinent Rodinia. The project area in SW Sweden exposes a window into one of the deepest buried and most ductile parts of this mountain chain. The high-grade deformational and metamorphic processes are considered to be of major importance in the evolution and structural build-up of the orogen.
