Postdoctoral Research Fellowship/Researcher in Neuroscience at University of Oslo

Overview
Two Positions as Postdoctoral Research fellows (SKO 1352)/Researchers (SKO 1109) in systems neurosciene are available in the laboratory of Marianne Fyhn and Torkel Hafting at Department of Molecular Biosciences, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Oslo, Norway.

We are searching for highly motivated candidates with a strong interest in neural processing and plasticity of cortical circuits. The planned research makes use of state of the art electrophysiological recordings and multiphoton imaging in vivo. The fellowships are for a period of three years, suggested starting date July 1st, 2011.

3 Ph.D. student positions in Structural Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology

Overview
We are looking for three PhD students to the Division of Structural Engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. At the division we are using a research methodology where advanced analysis methods are developed and used together with laboratory experiments, resulting in a better understanding of the mechanical behaviour of structures. There are two research groups at the division: Concrete Structures, and Steel and Timber Structures. The present strength areas of Concrete Structures are the research methodology mentioned above, finite element modelling of reinforced concrete structures, bond and anchorage and in addition dynamics. The present strength areas of Steel and Timber Structures are strengthening and repair using composite materials, as well as advanced modelling for fatigue assessment of steel and composite bridges.

PhD student in "Sustainability assessment of biosolids systems" at Chalmers University of Technology

Overview
The PhD student will be integrated into the group of Chemical Environmental Science, at the department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. This research group is focused on developing and applying sustainability assessment processes to the creation of new products and the improvement of existing industries with the overall goal of reducing environmental damage and other negative sustainability impacts. One of the significant biological resource flows in modern cities is the solid residue of wastewater treatment and many methods have been proposed for treating and managing it. The group has previously performed work on this flow.
