Background
Hasselt University, in collaboration with Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO), has a position available for a PhD student in (statistical) bioinformatics.

Task description
The candidate will conduct research in statistical and (bio)informatics methods supporting the design and analysis of peptide centric mass-spectrometry experiments. The research will be situated in the context of the studies conducted at VITO. The candidate will be active in both institutes (50/50).

Kelly Scientific is seeking a Post-Doc Bioengineering Scientist - Rare Cell Isolation System Kelly Scientific is seeking a fresh post doc for a cellular diagnostic company located in the Texas Medical Center. The preferred candidate will have a unique industry post-doctoral opportunity to utilize their scientific and engineering skills in the environment of an innovative life science company. This person will have the responsibility of supporting the development of an innovative rare cell isolation system involving micofluidic flow and dielectrophoresis.

The right candidate will report to the VP of Product Development and work closely with senior research scientist, engineers, and technical directors to assist with experimental designs, project execution and generate formal reports. Computational fluid dynamic CFD analysis will be used to support refinement of fluid path design. Position will be a hands on role with extensive time in the laboratory designing and conducting experiments to evaluate new micofluidic, electronic and optically based designs utilizing surrogate and biological materials. This person will contribute to scientific abstracts and publications.

Postdoctoral position in Cell Physiology at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology, Dortmund, Germany

A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the group of Professor Dr. Frank Wehner, Department of Systemic Cell Biology (Prof. Dr. Philippe Bastiaens) at the MPI in Dortmund until December 31st, 2012.
Our laboratory is studying the mechanisms of cell volume regulation and its role in proliferation vs. apoptosis. Special emphasis is given to channel mediated ion transport. The methods used include advanced fluorescence microscopy, scanning acoustic microscopy and electrophysiology, as well as biochemistry and molecular biology.

Overview
The Robotic Intelligence Lab at Jaume I University (Castellon, Spain) is offering a PhD position for working in bio-inspired robotics research concerning learning and sensorimotor coordination of head, eyes and limbs movements during visually-aided planning and execution of manipulation tasks. The candidate will perform research within the framework of national and European projects related to robotic applications with neurobiology inspiration, working with state of the art equipment such as a humanoid torso with anthropomorphic head and multifinger hands.

Requirements: applicants should be nationals of the European uni0n and have obtained an Engineering or Science degree with outstanding performance. Experience in robotics is desirable but not required. Interest in theoretical neuroscience, mental development, or interdisciplinary bio-inspired research is preferable. This position is intendend for brilliant young graduates and their degree should be dated later than Jan. 1, 2008.
