EPSRC Dorothy Hodgkin PhD Postgraduate Award in the UK

Overview

Applications are invited for a fully funded PhD studentship for outstanding candidates from India, China, Hong Kong, South Africa, Brazil, Russia and the developing world to study for PhDs in top-rated research environments in the UK.

The studentship is funded through the EPSRC Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Awards (DHPA) scheme, which aims to bring candidates to the UK from the above countries. The over-riding criterion of the scheme is excellence, and DHPA scholars should be easily recognisable as the `best of the best`. This scholarship is co-funded by EPSRC and Optos and provides a full scholarship and overseas fees over a period of 42 months.

PhD in Characterising Fractured Reservoirs at Delft University of Technology

Overview
  • Location Delft
  • Function PhD position
  • Discipline Engineering
  • Work Time 38.0 hours per week
  • Month Salary Max. € 2612
  • Vacaturenummer CITG09-16a
This position is available for immediate recruitment.

Project Description
Fractured reservoirs are of interest in exploration and production of hydrocarbon and water, as well as in shallow engineering projects. Fractures may contribute significantly to porosity and permeability and thereby increase the retention and production capabilities of a reservoir or an aquifer. The distribution and properties of the fracture network control water infiltration. Fractures can also control the transport of contaminants in the subsurface; characterizing them is therefore vital in remediation strategies.
