The Software Technology Group, headed by Prof. Mira Mezini, conducts research dedicated to developing new technologies that help to construct high-quality software in a productive way. We use and develop an exciting set of technologies involving object-oriented, domain-specific and aspect-oriented programming languages, language support through runtime mechanisms such as virtual machines, programmer support in Integrated Development Environments, and static and dynamic program analysis. Ph. D. position in CMS, at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles
The Service de physique des particules elementaires of the Universite Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) is offering a position to an outstanding student with a university degree to start a PhD thesis within the CMS collaboration at the LHC.

The Service is part of the InterUniversity Institute for High Energies (ULB/VUB), which combines the experimental particle and astroparticle research groups from the francophone ULB and the Dutchspeaking VUB (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) and presently numbers more than 70 physicists, engineers and support staff. It is involved in frontier research in large international collaborations: CMS (at the LHC), IceCube (astroparticle physics at the South Pole), H1 (DESY, Hamburg) and OPERA (CERN/Gran Sasso), and in R&D in data acquisition systems. It hosts a CMS Grid Tier2 computing centre.
