PhD Scholarships at Singapore-MIT Alliance
The Singapore Ministry of Education has established a four-year fellowship scheme for new doctoral students at NTU or NUS who will conduct their research at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology Centre (SMART Centre).
The establishment of this Fellowship Programme is intended to attract to NTU and NUS the best and most talented doctoral students from Singapore, the region, and beyond and educate them to be future leaders in science and technology for Singapore and beyond. The Fellowship will provide them with the opportunity to be involved in the strategic research programmes at the SMART Centre and provide them with the opportunity to be co-advised by an MIT faculty member. The student may spend up to six months doing research at MIT.
Postdoctoral Research Positions at Trinity College Dublin
The Distributed Systems Group and Lero - The Irish Software Engineering Research Centre at Trinity College Dublin currently have a range of postdoctoral research fellowships on offer to suitably qualified applicants. http://www.dsg.scss.tcd.ie/FutureCities
Postdoctoral Research Positions
* Research Fellowship in Middleware for Smart Cities
This project will investigate middleware support for autonomic management of smart-city infrastructures and services. The project will investigate how user-contributed sensor data (along with data from sensors deployed by public authorities) can be gathered, transported, and interpreted effectively to optimise urban resource usage and service delivery, and improve quality of life and sustainability of cities. Five positions for doctoral students at Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences Katholieke Universiteit Leuven
In the context of a recently approved important research grant (“Concerted Research Action” GOA 2012/010) of the University`s Research Fund, entitled “Number sense: Analysis and improvement” five positions for doctoral students are available. The project will start in September 2011.
The central theme of the GOA project is the relationship between (the development of) “lower-order” and “higher-order” aspects of number sense and their relationship with school mathematics. The "lower order" characterization focuses on elementary sense of numerical magnitudes, including the rapid accurate perception of small numerosities and the ability to compare numerical magnitudes. Number sense from the higher-order perspective is considered to be much more complex and multifaceted in nature, comprising knowledge of and facility with numbers and operations (see attachment for more details). One part of the GOA project will focus on Number sense in statistics: statistical literacy (coordinator: Patrick Onghena). Students with a Master of Statistics are encouraged to apply.
