PhD Scholarship for Validation of an eye tracking instrument at Radboud Universiteit

Overview

As a PhD student, you will work on the project called `Validation of an eye tracking instrument in individuals with mild to borderline intellectual disability and alcohol and/or drug dependency`. The aim is to develop and validate an eye tracking instrument that will be used in (young) adults with mild to borderline intellectual disability (ID) and alcohol and/or (soft)drugs dependency.

It has been shown that non-disabled people who abuse alcohol and/or drugs show an attentional bias (as assessed by implicit measures) towards cues associated with these substances. Whether people with mild ID show a similar attentional bias towards substance related cues is still unknown. The aim is to add eye tracking methodology to ongoing clinical diagnosis, risk assessment and treatment evaluation of clients admitted to the clinical treatment programme.

PhD scholarship in Climate Change Effects to Plant Ecosystems at Technical University of Denmark

Overview
Applications are invited from talented young candidates for a PhD scholarship in effects to plant ecosystems from climate change.

The PhD will be enrolled at Ecosystems programme, Biosystems Division at Risø DTU. The Ecosystems programme work on effects of climate change to ecosystems, ecosystems feedback, adaptation and mitigation as well as ecosystem modeling in relation to climate change. The project will be carried out within the highly interdisciplinary and international research environment in the division. The project will employ some of the advanced experimental facilities the division has for conducting studies of climate change effects on ecosystems and biological processes, including advanced phytotron, controlled environments, field scale experiments and laboratories. The scholarship is carried out in close collaboration with the Nordic NordForsk initiative within the project `Sustainable primary production in a changing climate.

PhD scholarship in Aerodynamic and Mechanical System Modelling at Technical University of Denmark

Overview
DTU Mechanical Engineering conducts teaching and research in basic mechanics, advanced design tools, product development, energy systems, coastal hydrodynamics and marine technology.

Wind power technology, the most competitive renewable energy technology, is quickly developing. The size of individual wind turbine continues to grow and the penetration of wind power into power grid is increasing rapidly. Consequently, the impact of wind turbines on electric power security and quality becomes more and more important and presents great challenges and demands on wind turbine performance. In order to provide reliable and high quality power, the wind turbine should be appropriately designed and controlled to present the desired characteristics. Clearly, good modelling and simulation techniques are cost-effective methods to investigate the wind turbine performance and to optimize the design and control of wind turbines.
