Overview
This award will support scholars in universities or research institutes in the Asia-Pacific Region to undertake short term research, including collaborative research, contributing to the understanding of bilateral and multilateral relations between Canada and the countries of the Asia-Pacific Region. The award will assist with direct costs related to the research project, and, when a research trip to Canada is warranted, will provide assistance towards international airfare and a weekly flat rate allowance for a period not exceeding five weeks.

Hakuho Japanese Language Research Fellowship Program

Overview
The Hakuho Japanese Language Research Fellowship Program invites leading international researchers of the Japanese language and Japanese language instruction to Japan for residential research, with the aim of further developing and practicalizing research in these fields both in Japan and overseas, and enhancing the fundamentals of the research.

Applicant qualifications
Applicants to this program must satisfy all of the following qualifications:
  1. Be engaged in research into the Japanese language or Japanese language instruction.
  2. Be university professors or associate professors with outstanding results in research, or other persons with equivalent research backgrounds.
  3. Be non-Japanese nationals, in principle. Japanese nationals that have resided outside of Japan for 10 years or more and who are active in the academic community of their country of residence will, however, also be considered.
  4. Be able to come to Japan alone, in principle. (As the grant is intended for researchers, the Foundation does not permit accompanying family members in principle, and is unable to offer assistance in such cases.)

The Belfer Center`s Nuclear Security Fellowship

Overview
The Belfer Center`s International Security Program (ISP) has been has been invited to participate in a new nuclear security fellowship program funded by the Stanton Foundation. These fellowships are for predoctoral and postdoctoral scholars and junior faculty. The purpose of the fellowships is to stimulate the development of the next generation of thought leaders in nuclear security by supporting research that will advance policy-relevant understanding of the issues. Stanton Nuclear Security Fellows will be joint International Security Program/Project on Managing the Atom (MTA) research fellows.
