Overview
PhD Studentships (Power Conversion Research Group)
EPSRC PhD Studentship
High Performance Power Electronics for Electric Vehicles
To accelerate the development and exploitation of electric vehicles, step-change advances are needed in the size and cost of the on-board power electronics. At present multiple power electronic units are used within the electrical power train, for example separate DC-DC converters to interface the traction battery and super-capacitor power buffer to the DC-link of the traction drive, and a DC-AC converter to supply the traction machine. Power levels are typically in the range 50-75 kW.

Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) Scholarships

Overview
Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) is pleased to announce that there are 38 scholarships for international students! You`re invited to participate by developing a project. This is your chance to win one of the 38 international master scholarships for the 2011-2012 school year for studies in Milan, Rome, Turin, Cagliari, Venice, Florence, Madrid and Barcelona.

Scholarship
Develop a project on the theme: Your Reused Design. “Reuse” means using an item more than once, for the same function, or for a second life, when it is used for a different purpose. By reusing, we can create new shapes from old materials. Reuse is a very important part of a sustainable behavior. Reusing is different from recycling, which consists in processing used materials for the production of new objects.
